Signs That Your Plumbing System Needs an Update

A plumbing problem can be a bit stressful, as it affects 50% of your home’s functionality. Not to mention, severe plumbing damage can affect not only your entire plumbing system but also the structural foundation of your property. As much as you might want to fix your plumbing yourself, there are times when you need the hand of an expert to avoid severe and expensive repairs.

Unless you live in a home that was built within the last 5-10 decades, you probably know very little about the condition of the plumbing system. But when you start to feel that it might be time for some minor updates or perhaps an overhaul of the system, then it will be helpful to know what items are strong indicators that a new plumbing system will be beneficial. Of course, checking your pipes is significant. Listed below are the signs that your plumbing system needs an update:

Water Color

If your normal wash water begins to have a rusty or reddish tint, it is a superb possibility that your pipes are old and have started to rust, hence the color of the water. If left unattended, the pipes will eventually burst, and you will be dealing with overly installed pipes. Pipe deterioration can also be noticed by a dirty or sour smell due to mold or rust.

Look underneath your home and take a look at the material the plumbing is made of more traditional homes usually have galvanized steel or perhaps cast iron. More modern homes have aluminum, aluminum, or PVC. If you notice any of these older materials, it’s essential to have a plumber check them for balance and determine how much “life” they’ve given up.

Exposed Pipes

In homes that are over 60 decades old, there is most likely an exposed pipe (or maybe two) somewhere in your home. Please take a few minutes to examine these pipes and determine their condition. If they show signs of wear and aging, consider having the rest of the system inspected by a plumbing expert.

Water Pressure

It may also simply be time to clean your drains with a snake or hose to remove any clogs or blockages. Even this simple action can extend the life of your home’s pipes. The pipes may need to be repaired or replaced. They could also be clogs or copies. Don’t be fooled by faulty plumbing. Talk to a plumber in the region and handle any issues before they become a problem. You may be glad you did.
